How to Fall Asleep in Under 60 SecondsIt was the week before my best friend’s wedding, and my anxiety (nerves, plus excitement) had reached epic levels. I wasn’t sleeping, to say the least. Part of that had to do with the maid of honor speech I would be giving. I was terrified and could not shut my brain off to fall asleep at night.

After day three of lying awake until the wee hours of the night, I sheepishly admitted to her that I was too nervous to fall asleep, and she—the bride, who was sleeping like a baby the week before her own wedding—told me I needed to try the “4-7-8” breathing trick.

She happens to be a licensed wellness practitioner who studies meditation, stress, and breathing techniques, and told me it would change my life. You simply breathe in through your nose for four seconds, hold your breath for seven seconds, and exhale through your mouth for eight seconds. She explained that the studied combination of numbers has a chemical-like effect on our brains, and would slow my heart rate and soothe me right to sleep that night. “It works,” she told me. “It’s crazy.”

How it Works

I couldn’t wait to put the trick to the test, and to my complete disbelief, I woke up the next morning unable to even remember getting to the eighth second of the exhale because it knocked me out that fast. For the next four nights leading up to the big day, even as my stress increased, I was able to fall asleep the minute I tried the 4-7-8 trick. I also used it to relax in the moments leading up to the speech.

How to Fall Asleep in Under 60 SecondsWhen you feel stressed or anxious, adrenaline courses through your veins, your heart beats at a rapid rate, and your breathing becomes quick and shallow. So before I get into the specifics behind how the 4-7-8 breathing trick works, I wanted to explain in my own words what it feels like when you try it. To me, the effect of the breathing technique feels almost like a sedative drug, because in order to hold your breath for seven seconds and then to exhale for eight—when your breath is so shallow and short—your body is forced to slow your heart rate. It has no choice. Holding your breath, and then slowly, deliberately exhaling for eight seconds, causes a chain reaction. It feels like going from a mad-dash sprint to a finish line to a slow, leisurely, calming stroll through the park.

When you first start, you’ll be desperate to just take in another breath, or you’ll want to speed up your counting, but if you stick to the numbers (or at least try to), and don’t take any breaks (in other words, consecutively repeat the 4-7-8 without resuming regular breathing), you can literally feel your heart rate slow down, your mind get quieter, and your whole body physically relax. It washes over you like a calming, relaxing drug. I can never remember getting past the first set of 4-7-8.

Do you know the feeling of being put under by anesthesia, where you are conscious, and the next thing you remember is waking up? That’s what this is like for me…

As soon as I start the practice, the next thing I remember, I’m waking up in the morning and can’t even remember beginning the 4-7-8 count the night before. Crazy.

Now to the more technical details: People who are stressed or anxious are actually chronically under-breathing, because stressed people breathe shortly and shallowly, and often even unconsciously hold their breath. By extending your inhale to a count of four, you are forcing yourself to take in more oxygen, allowing the oxygen to affect your bloodstream by holding your breath for seven seconds, and then emitting carbon dioxide from your lungs by exhaling steadily for eight seconds. The technique will effectively slow your heart rate and increase oxygen in your bloodstream, and may even make you feel slightly lightheaded which contributes to the mild sedative-like effect. It will instantly relax your heart, mind, and overall central nervous system because you are controlling the breath versus continuing to breathe short, shallow gasps of air.

How it Can Work for You

Mindful breathing practices have been a part of yoga and Eastern wellness modalities for centuries, but aren’t as popular in Western culture. The most well-known champion of the 4-7-8 breathing technique in the U.S., who is somewhat responsible for the prevalence that the technique does have amongst integrative medicine practitioners, yogis, and those in search of stress reduction and overall relaxation, is Harvard-educated Dr. Andrew Weil.

Though I’m not promising or claiming (nor does Dr. Weil) that practicing this breathing technique can fight disease or provide clinical benefits, I can tell you one thing: If it affects you like it did me, it will help you fall asleep way faster. Not only is it free, it also works for a number of different instances. In addition to using it to fall asleep in a pinch, you can practice it if you wake up in the middle of the night and find yourself thinking about something you have to do the next day, in order to fall back asleep; if you are nervous before an event (like a wedding, or giving a speech); if you are angry about something and want to calm down. My friend (the bride-to-be who slept like a baby the week before her wedding), who gets nervous to fly, uses it before flights and during if the plane encounters turbulence.

It is now what I use to fall asleep every single night, and each morning, I’m amazed at how well it worked.

Angels & Archangels

Guardian Angels

Everyone has a guardian angel, with no exceptions. I’ve met people who doubted whether they deserved to have a guardian angel. Please know that you have a guardian angel with you, guaranteed!

This is the angel who constantly stays with you, from birth until your transition back to heaven. This angel’s love for you is unconditional and bigger than anything on this earth.

Your guardian angel makes certain you are safe and guided always.

Guardian angels are sometimes confused with “spirit guides.”

A spirit guide is a loving being who has lived upon the earth in human form.

This person then received special training in the afterlife about how to become a spirit guide.

This training emphasizes that the guide is not to interfere with your free will or make decisions for you.

The guide is there to give you general advice, comfort, and at times warning and protection.

Most spirit guides are deceased loved ones, such as grandparents, siblings, beloved friends, and parents.

Your spirit guide may have passed-away in the physical life before you were born.

However, this loving being was there at your birth and has been with you every day of your life since.

Just as you will always take an interest in your family’s future offspring, so do the deceased family members whom we may have never encountered in physical form.

Spirit guides act in the capacity of guardian angels, in that they bring many gifts to our lives.

The main difference is that true guardian angels, who have never walked as mortals upon the earth, have a higher vibrating energy frequency.

People who are empathic, who can “feel” the sensation of a spiritual presence, can tell the palpable difference between an angelic and a spirit guide appearance.

Clairvoyants see that angels’ aura is bright white, whereas a spirit guide’s aura is not quite as bright and may appear as a bluish-white.


These are the beings of light who respond to our calls for guidance, assistance, protection, and comfort.

God’s thoughts of love create angels. The angels are here to help us, especially when our intent is to bring joy and healing to the world.

Ask for as many angels as you want to surround you.

Ask for angels to surround your loved ones, your home, and your business.

Angels receive great joy at helping us, and they ask only that we occasionally remember to say, “Thank you” in gratitude for their help.


These are the angels who supervise the guardian angels and angels upon the earth.

You might think of archangels as the “managers” among the earthly angels’ hierarchy.

You can call upon an archangel whenever you need powerful and immediate assistance.

Since angels are purely spiritual beings, they have no time or space restrictions.

An archangel can help many people in different geographical locations simultaneously.

So, never worry about calling upon an angel because you fear that your need isn’t “big enough” or that the angel might be busy.

Your call for help is sweet music to an angel’s ears. Because of the “Law of Free Will,” angels and archangels cannot intervene in our lives unless we specifically ask for their help.

The only exception to this is a life-endangering situation, where we could die before our time. Otherwise, it’s up to us to remember to constantly invite angels and archangels into our lives.

Angels and archangels come to your assistance the moment you call them.

You don’t need to say a formal invitation or invocation ritual, and you don’t even need to verbalize your call aloud. Just the thought, “Angels!” is enough.

If your request for angelic assistance is sincere, the angels appear in response to your call, often before you’ve finished calling them! You Know That Angels Are Near When . . .

You feel the angels’ presence. Perhaps you sense a warm brush across your face, shoulders, hands, or arms.

You might feel their hug, or the brush of a wing across your skin.

The air pressure changes when angels enter a room.

There is a palpable thickening, as if a delicious cloud just rolled in to shield you from the heat. Too, the room temperature may seem to shift, or you might catch a whiff of a beautiful lilting fragrance that you can’t quite identify.

When the angels hug you, you feel a deep warmth flow through your chest and your heart expands with unearthly love.

You see the angels’ presence.

The calling cards of angels are visible.

A sparkle of white light out of the corner of your eye signals that an angel is near.

A feather that mysteriously appears from out of nowhere.

And the beautiful angels you see in a darkened room, or standing beside a beloved friend or teacher, confirm that the angelic kingdom visits you.

You hear the angels’ presences.

A loving whisper in your ear that urges you to improve your life. Or an unmistakable shout warning you to, “Watch out!”

A voice inside your mind counselling you to reach for the stars, and the sweet strains of music coming from out of nowhere.

These are the sounds that angels make.

You know the angels’ presence.

When you suddenly get an idea that dramatically transforms your life, an angel has just delivered a message from God and tucked it safely within your heart.

When you have an unmistakable knowingness that angels are near to you, trust that it is so.

You experience the angels’ presence. When they miraculously avert a near-tragedy, or an opportune door “coincidentally” opens for you at just the right moment, you know that angels are helping you in the background.

When you walk through nature and feel free and joy-filled, you can be sure that angels walk beside you along the way.


Being Kind to Rude People !!!

Kindness is Strength

Being rude is easy.

It does not take any effort and is a sign of weakness and insecurity.

Kindness shows great self-discipline and strong self esteem.

Being kind is not always easy when dealing with rude people.

Kindness is a sign of a person who has done a lot of personal work and has come to a great self-understanding and wisdom.

Choose to be kind over being right and you’ll be right every time because kindness is a sign of STRENGTH.

Stress Bye Bye…

Did you know that feeling stressed, anxious and depressed can cause physical illness like backache, headache, stiff neck, fatigue, weight gain/loss etc.???

Your body responds to the way you think, feel and act.

Hence, be mindful of what you think and talk about yourself and others.

Here are some simple and effective ways to get rid of stress and negative feelings instantly:

1.Breathing exercise

Try alternate nostril breathing. Sit in a comfortable place, hold the right thumb over the right nostril and inhale deeply through the left nostril. At the peak of inhalation, close off the left nostril with the ring finger, and then exhale through the right nostril. Carry on the same, few times until you feel relaxed.

2.Burn/bury/freeze/flush BBFF

BBFF technique gives you instant relaxation. Write about all the negative/stressful issues in your life in a piece of paper. Burn in fire /bury in earth/ flush in water or freeze it. Put the paper in a container of water and freeze it.

3.Declutter your home/office

Neuro scientists have found that working and living in a place that is messy all the time, creates stress in the mind. Hence, spend few minutes each day to clean your work station and home.


Visualise yourself being surrounded by Orange color or look at orange coloured things. It is a color that boosts your creativity and opens the mind. Inhale orange colour and exhale black color.

You may also look at flower/plant photographs as flowers are nature healers.

5.Forgive and forget

If you feel constantly negative or stressed then its possible that you are holding on to past that does not serve you anymore. Let go and forgive people that hurt you and also seek forgiveness from those you hurt. There is no great feeling in this world than forgiving and forgetting.

6.Let go of gossip and negative talks

Gossiping and talking negative about yourself or others brings down your stamina and pulls you to a lower energy level. Every day spend atleast one hour talking and thinking only about positive things. Challenge yourself to be 100% positive at this time. Then gradually increase it to 1 day a week. Positive thinking makes your mind, body and soul blissful and light.

Pink Light Meditation : Healing Relationship

The ‘Pink Light’ technique is a powerful healing tool to be used daily.

This technique is ancient in origin and was developed by the Ishaya monks, who have dedicated their lives to helping people free themselves from mind-made limitations.

Over the millennia, it has been used to heal all pain and suffering between the user and the subject, ultimately healing relationships.

This technique has worked wonders in the lives of those who have been raped, molested, or abused. It has reconnected runaway children to their families within weeks. When used properly, with innocence and without conditions, it can be miraculous.

1. Get yourself into a comfortable, loving space. Close your eyes. Remember a time when you felt loved.
2. Imagine pink loving light radiating from your heart, covering you in its glow, completely surrounding you, as if you were in a pink sphere of love. Some people might have difficulty imagining the pink light, which is fine; the intent is the most important part.
3. Start with a loving memory of yourself; bring your image in front of you, outside of your pink light. In your mind’s eye, begin to cover your image with your pink light. Cover yourself completely, shining pink on every inch of you, and let it go.
4. Next, put up a loving memory or image of your immediate family. Cover each of them in your pink light them more on to the next person. If you have difficulty conjuring up a loving memory, try simple imaging, or maybe even have the person come into the room, standing at a distance and/or facing away from you. After, let them go.
5. Next, bring in anyone with whom you still have an emotional charge or discomfort with. Again, cover this person with your loving pink light, then let go.
6. Allow for anyone else to show up; cover them with your pink light and let go.

Tap Into your Inner Voice

If we learn once again to listen to the gentle voice within,

we will hear it counseling us many times a day to simplify our lives.

When the voices of the world propose the multiple complexities of modern living,

the gentle voices within will whisper:

Why complicate your life? . . . .

Simplify. Simplify. Simplify your life and

you will find the inner peace that the poets and saints of every age have coveted more than any possession.

The more I get to looking at it, the more apparent it becomes that much of the outside world does not necessarily want us to discover “the inner peace that the poets and saints of every age have coveted more than any possession.”

And why would they? After all, once we understand the benefits of simplifying our lives, we will have very little desire to spend wastefully on things that will never provide lasting happiness and joy in our lives. And once we begin removing the complexities of modern living from our lives, the opportunities for others to make money from offering us fleeting happiness will slowly disappear.

Simplifying our lives is not an easy task–it is our natural inclination to complicate our lives. However, if we address our impulse to complicate our lives, and seek honestly and openly within, we will eventually come to understand that our happiness and meaning in life does not come from things of this world. Lasting peace and joy come only from what we can hold within us–our attitudes, understanding, and acceptance of all that we are.

So how do we go about simplifying our lives?

By identifying with what is most important to us, and then gradually eliminating everything else. Nearly every aspect of our lives has the ability to be simplified–fewer and less expensive possessions, fewer commitments, less tasks and clutter, limited consumption of media and entertainment, fewer negative thoughts, fewer credit cards and debt, less value on worldly things, and on and on. In addition, with every complication we release, we lose one less thing to worry about–one less bill to pay, one less credit card to budget for. And as our lives become less complicated, we begin to hear “the gentle voice within” with much more clarity, providing us a more concise purpose and direction in our lives.

“Why complicate your life?” Perhaps the better question we should ask ourselves is,

“Why have we complicated them so much already?”
